Whether you are self-employed or just looking to improve the look of your personal pages on social media it is always useful to have a good recent portrait of yourself. And, while a simple headshot would do, a location portrait with a more thought and preparation will always be more interesting and therefore more memorable. It's the sort of portrait that often gets taken for the press to accompany a newspaper feature article. It's exactly the sort of bigger, better picture that is ideal for the large 'cover picture' you want for your personal or business Facebook Page.
This sort of portrait is much more of a collaborative creation between the photographer and the sitter, and as a result takes a little longer to get the best results. For an individual it might be an opportunity to dress up a little, play a part and create a striking portrait. Maybe even something to get printed and hung on the wall. We can discuss the effect you are trying to create and choose the precise location for the shoot, maybe add a little staging to bring some extra personal props into the frame. An advantage of having the session in your own home is that you will have access to the rest of your wardrobe if we decide a minor change of outfit would be appropriate.
In business, a location portrait of someone at their place of work can help to market the business. People like to connect with other people and therefore strong portraiture will always help a website make a better connection with potential customers, whether it is a self-employed artist photographed in their studio or the members of staff working for a larger company.
For small businesses while you could just arrange a portrait session of yourself - why not take the opportunity to produce a range of images that not only show who you are, but also what you do, and how you do it. If you have taken the time to tidy your office or studio for the portrait, let's take advantage of that work and get a full set of images to use on your website and on social media. A portrait of your business, if you like.
